Now, I’ve struggled to find a way to say this sensitively (diplomacy is not my talent), so I’m just going to go for it: I was kind of disappointed to find that it was a(nother) fictionalised account of WWII. Long story short, a lot of really smart people really liked it… but that was all I knew about it going in. ![]() Plus, it spent nearly 120 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List for Hardcover Fiction. ![]() It went on to win the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and the 2015 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction.
