7/7/2023 0 Comments Neil gaiman myths![]() ![]() Together they contain essentially 90% of all the Norse myths and legends, and pretty much all notable appearances of the Norse deities. ![]() There are only two main major sources for Norse Mythology: First the Poetic Edda which is a collection of poems about the gods and heroes, which are themselves believed to have been passed down orally for centuries prior and second is the Prose Edda, a later written telling of all of Norse Mythology as one cohesive narrative. Unlike Greco-Roman Mythology which has literally hundreds of stories and variations, making it impossible to consume all there is to know, or Egyptian Mythology which is cryptic and nigh-incomprehensible, the Scandinavian myths are comparatively incredibly accessible. And one of my favorite mythologies has to be Norse, partially because of how simple and straightforward it all is. It's no secret to anyone who knows me that I absolutely love mythology, often regardless of the region they come from. ![]()
